Things to Have (Part 2)

When encountering the works of the devil and his gang here is another thing that believers must have in their arsenal …
"But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you."
(Matthew 12:28) Believers must depend on the Holy Spirit to help, guide and give discernment. A great example of this is reflected in an encounter that Paul and Silas had in Philippi.

"Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation." And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out that very hour." (Acts 16:16-18)

The demonized woman was speaking truth concerning Paul and Silas and she did this for many days. The demons purpose was to discredit Paul and Silas before both Jew and Gentile. But when Paul got discernment from the Holy Spirit he cast the demon out of the woman. Although all sickness and disease finds its roots in sin and or the devil, over 25% of the healings in Jesus’ ministry shown in the gospels, a demon had to be directly dealt with. This is why we need a good understanding of God’s Word (See Things to Have Part 1) together with the Holy Spirit’s guidance. .

If the wiles of the devil try to come upon a us, instead of accepting it and taking it as though somehow we deserve it or that’s just part of life, we are to remember, the name of Jesus belongs to all believers and all believers have the right to use His name.
"Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." (James 4:7)
"Resist him, steadfast in the faith…" (1 Peter 5:9)

The key is FAITH; Fully convinced that God will do what He says He will do period. The Bible clearly tells us that Jesus has defeated Satan and stripped him of his power (Colossians 2:15) The Bible also says the as children of God that we are heirs with God and joint heirs with Christ. What Chrst has acomplished
believers are heirs to, that is by faith we are entitled to all that is in Chrsit, such as, the authority over the Satan and his gang. Jesus said...

"Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19) This means absolutly nothing, not sickness, disease, poverty, premature death, or second death. However, as said earlier, it takes faith in the integrity of God's Word.
