Another wonderful circumstance revealed in the Bible of how right thinking produces great results is found in Mark 5:25-34. "Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, "If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well." Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, "Who touched My clothes?" But His disciples said to Him, "You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, 'Who touched Me?'" And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction."
Here we see that this woman “Had a flow of blood." According to Levitical Law (Leviticus 15:19) a discharge or a flow of blood from a woman was considered unclean and if another person touched her they were also unclean. Think about it, for 12 years she struggled with this condition. She also "Suffered many things from many physicians" which means that the physicians attempts to help her were painful. She also "Spent all that she had, was no better but rather grew worse." Let's try to put ourselves in this humilating, costly and painful situation if we can. Have you or a loved one ever experience such a costly and painful situation?
Well something happened in her life that radically change everything, she heard about Jesus. That's all, she heard about Jesus. We do not know what she heard, but we see that it produced an action, "She came behind Jesus in the crowd and touched His garment." Her action was a product of what she thought. This produced a confession "if I only touch His clothes", which then produced faith, "I shall be made well." Had she not acted upon what she thought, confessed and believed, nothing would have happened, nothing would have changed.
Her thinking, believing, confession and actions had come together based solely on "She heard about Jesus" Notice that she exercised and acted upon faith first and then the fountain of her blood was dried up and "she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction." She believed without seeing any evidence that what she was hoping for would happen. But isn't that true Bible faith? Faith is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead. (Hebrews 11:1 TLB)
Finally, we see what caused the healing to manifest in her, "Daughter, your FAITH has made you well.” Not only did Jesus tell her (us) what brought her healing, but He reassures her of her healing, “Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction." Her faith went ahead of her healing, that is, thinking right, believing right, confessing right and putting action to what she believed and confessed. God will always do what He has promised to do when His people act in faith.
God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19)
For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. (Mark 11:23-24) PTL
