I Don't Get It

Jesus said, "I do nothing of myself, but as My Father taught Me, I speak theses things".
John 8:28. "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work". John 4:34

Many times, especially in John Gospel Jesus reveals that His teachings and actions are not of His initiative, but initiated by the Father. Jesus was perfectly doing the will of the Father not His own. Matthew 6:24-34 Jesus teaches the disciples and multitude that the Father knows our needs and is willing to provide them to those who seek Him above everything else. In Matthew 10:1, 7-10 Jesus commission the disciples and gives them power to heal and deliver the sick and demonized. But did the disciples really understand the depths of what Jesus was teaching? Did they really understand the Father's will?

In Matthew 14:13-21 Jesus once again demonstrates to His disciples the Father's will to supernaturally heal and to supernaturally make provision. In this passage 5000 men, not counting women and children, experienced the supernatural . In all of this, did the disciples really understand the Father's will?

A short time later in Matthew 15:29-39 Jesus once again demonstrates to His disciple almost the exact same thing but this time the Father's will to heal and provide was for 4000 men not counting women and children. Again, with all of this did the disciples really understand the Father's will? Now take a moment and think about what Jesus has taught and demonstrated to the disciples in the passages shown hereon. You would think that the disciples would have been able to connect the dots and know what the Father's will is. However, when we look at the same events shown in Mark 8:14-21 we see that the disciples did not get it.

How is it that 2000 years later, most church leaders in the USA do not understand the Father's will? It is no wonder that most believers in the USA do not understand what the Father's will is. How can this be? We supposedly have the best minds in education in the world. We have the freedom to read and study the Bible, to worship, to pray and even experience the Word of God being presented on television and other forms of media. So why do believers today struggle like the disciple once did in understanding the Father's will?

Jesus exposed one of the problems at the beginning of His ministry. "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." Matthew 6:24 Now look again at Mark 8:14. Do you see Jesus' comment to His disciples, "Is your heart STILL hardened?" It's apparent that the disciples were still working through the process as to whom their master was. When looking at the word mammon we will see that is goes a little deeper that just riches. The word is further defined as, that which is to be trusted. The disciple, as well as many believers today have an issue with who they are going to trust.

It wasn't until the disciple placed their faith in Jesus Christ and trusted in Him alone that their hardened hearts were freed. If believers in the USA are looking for revival and reformation in the church, then leaders must stop serving two masters and teach believers the same. We must get past a general, non-specific faith, to a direct and intentional faith in Christ and that He was revealing the Father's will for humanity then and for now, He does not change! Do you get it?
